The Hotel Mariano, originally built in 1880 to accomodate the officers of the new born Italian Kingdom and later converted into a hotel, is situated on the Esquilino, one of the seven famous hills of ancient Rome.
 
      The Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore (432 - 440 A.C.), the Opera Theatre (1880), the Colosseum (72 A.C.), the hot spring baths of Diocletian (303 A.C.) and the Roman National Museum are some of the interesting places to visit close to the Hotel .
